Reading Room
The Reading Room at AADI is a virtual reading club hosted on Zoom in time of social distancing. It is Sahar Ali’s brainchild. An avid reader, a prolific writer and a professional journalist, Sahar Ali has continuously made sound literary decisions for AADI’s presence in the world of South Asian literature. The aim of the room is to bring back South Asian women into regular reading that brings the thought process to an intellectual level.

Neil Gaiman on Why We Read and What Books Do for the Human Experience
“The question of why we read and what books actually do for us is as old as the written word itself, and as attractive. Galileo saw reading as a way of having superhuman powers. For Kafka, books were “the axe for the frozen sea within us,” says Maria Popova in her article, Neil Gaiman on Why We Read and What Books Do for the Human Experience, published at www.brainpickings.org.

Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal
A delightful read (Unmarriageable - Pride and Prejudice in Pakistan) and it’s articulate author (Soniah Kamal) hosted by AADI to chat about the book, and how translatable and relatable Jane Austen is to modern-day Pakistan. AADI would like to thank Soniah Kamal for giving us the the gift of her company, and Maheen Baqai for hosting her in Austin and bringing her over. Our followers are readers! Way to go!
